'Star Wars: Force Awakens'
While many details have been kept under wraps in the lead-up to Star Wars: Force Awakens' debut, photos and promos for the film have slowly made their way online. Fill the days until Dec. 18 with the first character portraits for the movie, ahead.
Harrison Ford as Han Solo Harrison Ford picked up his blaster to become Han Solo once more for The Force Awakens. The actor's character poster shows him in a tight shot as one of the defining roles of his career. "I can tell you this. It’s really, really good," Ford told Jimmy Kimmel of the movie. "The new cast – Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac – are phenomenal. J.J. has made an incredible movie. You will not be disappointed at all. I promise you."
John Boyega as Finn Playing lead Finn, newcomer John Boyega holds a lightsaber in his character poster. "We're going back to Star Wars, back to the three originals and continuing that legacy," Boyega told EW. "...I'm a big Star Wars fan! We’re all going crazy and we all can't wait for the film to come out."
Adam Driver as Kylo Ren Standing in stark contrast to Boyega's Finn, Adam Driver is shown as a masked Kylo Ren, holding a red lightsaber. The Girls star kept quiet on his villainous character but told EW, "The thing about Star Wars that's so good — sure there's this huge [canvas]. It’s space, it’s a long time ago in a galaxy far away. That’s set up immediately. But in the midst of all those things, what has made those movies last so long is that they’re all grounded, which is something that is not so far off from every movie with huge universal themes of siblings and parents and betrayal and trust. That’s so generic and obvious, but it’s hard to balance those things."
Daisy Ridley as Rey Daisy Ridley joins Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Rey. In her character poster, she stares straight ahead, posing as the strong scavenger. Ridley told EW that her favorite part of filming the role was in Abu Dhabi, explaining, "The feeling of stepping onto a real set for the first time, it genuinely was a baptism of fire. To see creatures walking around and speeders chilling in the sand, that was amazing, and because I was shooting there, it was like everything had built up to that moment. So a few days in, I was like, 'OK. I’m getting my groove now.'"
Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Carrie Fisher returns as Princess Leia for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. "It's me. I’m the custodian of Leia," Fisher told EW of revisiting the famed role. "I keep her in my bag!"
